REUNION NEWS! 2010 National Reunion in Suisun City.

Back to Suisun!
It has been 40 years since the last of our TF-116 brothers left Suisun City for 1 and IV Corps of South Viet Nam. A lot has changed in this once “backwater swamp town”. It was actually used as the backdrop for the 1949 movie “All the King’s Men” starring Broderick Crawford. The movie and Crawford won two of the movie’s three Academy Awards. The city has changed immensely and I witnessed part of that positive change from 1983-2001. In 1987 it was ranked as “the worst place to live” in a San Francisco Chronicle poll. I now shamelessly consider it to be the “Gem of Solano County”.

The Op Boat to stay in the Northwest.

The NHC has accepted our proposal that they use the PBR hull for the static display in Washington DC. This means that we will put in action a plan to get the PBR into shape for showing at the National Museum before it departs for the East Coast. See working parties

The Northwest PBR to become Movie Star.

A TV production company is working closely with the Northwest chapter to tell the story of PBR's in Vietnam and one of the battles during the war. After initial contact by John Woody the project has been turned over to the Northwest Chapter.

The outline of the project is as follows: They will tell the story of PBR's with stock footage. Then tell of a specific battle with interviews of the participants and finally do an re-enactment of the battle using our boat. As more is firmed up you will be able to read all about it on the Battle Zone page .
