This picture was taken in late 1974 or early 1975, at COSRVDIV XI during an award ceremony conducted by CDR Dunbar (handing out the award to Jerry). Standing to my right is Doug Cates. Picture supplied by Jerry Popovice.
Doug Cates was served in Vietnam with RD 512,543,512 and with the Vietnamese Navy’s PBR’s of RPG55. He left Nam and served with RD 22 in New Orleans then served with CORDIV 11 at Mare Island. Doug changed rate from EN to MA and went to many schools Army, AF, Navy, Cal Civilian PD 832, FBI Academy, Chief of PD Moffett Field CA, Chief of PD ADAK ALASKA. He retired from the navy as an MAC .Went to Riverside CA as Chief of PD Retired full pay with 7.5 years, Moved To WA and did some security work then took job as VP of S@L ASSOC WA state then AVP Federal Reserve in Seattle and retired Once again. Now just better looking than Jerry and single as wife passed away in 2004. Doug lives in Port Hadlock WA
