The Binder Reception                                                    Reflection on Rubin's Life by his family

The Northwest Chapter of Gamewardens was tasked to arrange the event under the leadership of Larry Bissonnette. We were to honor the last crewman of PBR 105 Rubin Binder BM3 who served as forward Gunner on one of the most renowned PBRs in the Vietnam War.

This is the core of our Gamewardens group at the Memorial and one bag piper.

Members present from  today's Navy were also on hand to honor Rubin and his service to our country. They included LCDR Jonathan C. Puskas CO  and Command  Master Chief Wright of Inshore Boat Unit Eleven, the New Brown Water Navy. ENS Andrea Istre USS Davis FFG 61

Rubin's service was held at the Bikur Cholim Cemetery in Seattle at 10:00 on Sunday, 16th of July. It was a clear and Beautiful Day

CDR Fred McDavitt gave a Eulogy that can only described as heart felt and remarkable. He described the extraordinary service of Rubin Binder as a PBR Sailor. We can only feel honored to have served in Vietnam on PBRs with a man like Rubin.

A Gun Salute was rendered and Taps was played by members of the VVA Chapter 423

Then the haunting sounds of a bag piper playing amazing grace came from the distance as it passed over the grounds to Rubin's grave site and the memorial party.

 

Naval Base Kitsap, Bremerton provided a flag party to fold the Flag of a grateful Nation for presentation by CDR Tom Anderson to the Wife of Rubin Binder
