I entered the Navy in 1959, served on three ships until 1965. Was aboard USS King DLG 10 in Tonkin Gulf in '65. Following shore duty with NROTC in Idaho, was sent in country as CO, RivDiv 531 in Sept. '68. Spent time in My Tho, Rach Gia canal, Grand Canal, Rung Sat zone, and Ben Keo (near Tay Ninh City). Back to Tonkin Gulf in '70-'71 on USS Wainwright. Served on two more destroyer type ships after that and commanded the last one, USS Mullinnix DD944 with LCDR Larry Bissonnette as the XO! Retired as CDR after Pentagon duty in 1979, moved back to Moscow, ID, and taught school for 15 years before fully retiring.
