From Boot camp to Chief and below Retired !!!!

Alan Aboard our PBR 4th of July 2007 at NS Everett
Joined the Navy and went to San Diego boot camp in late '66. Went to Engine "A" school at Great Lakes Feb '67.
Sent to Subic Bay on the YW130. Volunteered for in country V.N. late '68. May '69 reported to Binh Thuy NSA. Repaired outboard engines, 6-V-53's, Skimmers, PBR's and some STAB's. Did night security in Boston Whalers and got to ride the PBR's sometimes. Got tired if Binh Thuy and volunteered to work with V.N. Navy.
Sent to Vung Tau in December to board a LST (Large Slow Target) went back up the Mekong to Chau Doc. Assigned to the V.N. group 212 (Operation Foul Deck) first on the YRBM 16 then to the YRBM 20. Assigned were one LT (Jack Stites) one DC1 (Christavol) myself an EN2 and 7 others EN3 and FN's. Left country May '70 the day we went into Cambodia under Prest. Orders. Reported to Cubi Point NAS as MAA.
Then to Pearl Harbor DE 1033 Claud Jones FMAG Pearl Harbor made EN1, ARS 23 Deliver, Sub Base Pearl Harbor as QA, CG18 Worden Chief of "A" Division. Last 3 years was recruiter in Longview, WA.
Retired with 23 years and went Fleet Reserve to finish 30 years. Worked at Duwamish Shipyard Seattle as outside machinist for 18 years and retired June 1, 07.
